The Door to Peace: Why Even Fragile Syrian Ceasefire Matters
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia and the United States reached an agreement on the ceasefire in Syria between Damascus and the country's armed opposition groups on February 22. The truce excluded Daesh and al-Nusra Front terrorist groups.

"It has been now 6 days of the cessation of hostilities. That is quite a period in any type of ceasefire or truce, especially after a conflict of 5-6 years… The level of violence in the country has been greatly reduced, ask the Syrian people," de Mistura told reporters.

"In general, the cessation has been holding," he added.
