TOKYO (Sputnik) — According to the president, North Korea’s nuclear program "will only lead to the fall of the North Korean regime" and not to its prosperity.
"We and the international community will continue to put pressure on North Korea until the North shows its commitment to denuclearization…At the same time, our government will not close the door to dialogue," Park said, as quoted by the Yonhap news agency.
Seoul and Pyongyang signed a ceasefire after the 1950-1953 Korean War, but the two Koreas formally remain in a state of war.
In January, Pyongyang conducted its fourth nuclear test and later launched a ballistic missile in violation of UN Security Council resolutions. The UN Security Council is expected to approve a US-proposed resolution expanding the sanctions against North Korea later in the day.
