The emerging dialogue between Moscow and Washington on Syrian peace may run aground if some NATO allies continue their campaign against Russia at the OSCE parliamentary assembly, an Italian politician told Sputnik on Thursday.

Breedlove: NATO Ready to ‘Fight and Win If Necessary’ Against Russia
VIENNA (Sputnik), Svetlana Alexandrova – Russia returned to the Organization for Security and Cooperation’s Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) this year, after it stayed out of the 2015 summer session in Helsinki due to Finland’s entry ban for some of its delegates, featured on an EU blacklist.

"We are very supportive of the dialogue between Russia and NATO [leader US]," Claudio D'Amico, a member of Italy’s right-wing Lega Nord party, said referring to a recent US-Russia proposal on how to end hostilities in Syria.

D'Amico said he was surprised when some delegates from "small and less populated" NATO countries like Baltic states, tried to "use the NATO bloc and OSCE platform to attack Russia." "They are using it for attacking other states to benefit politically," the politician claimed.

Earlier this week, Moscow and Washington, both key mediators in the Syrian peace process, announced a plan for the cessation of hostilities in Syria, set to come into effect on February 27 at midnight Damascus time.
