09:06 GMT 13.02.2016 (Updated: 10:31 GMT 13.02.2016) Meeting between Patriarch Kirill and Pope Francis in Cuba is a good expmle of how to start moving closer, Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev said at the Munich Security Conference.
"Yesterday we saw a great example of how two [opposing sides can] start to approach each other. Patriarch Kirill met Pope Francis in Cuba. Keep in mind that the two Christan churches had not communicated with each other for centuries," Dmitry Medvedev said.
The historic meeting between the heads of the Roman Catholic Church and the Russian Orthodox Church took pace at Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport on Friday. The meeting marks the first time a Catholic pope and an Orthodox patriarch meet since Christianity split into western and eastern branches in 1054.
