    Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel held a phone talk Tuesday on the situation in Ukraine.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a phone talk Tuesday on the situation in Ukraine, the Kremlin press service said.

    "Specifically, issues regarding the constitutional reform in Ukraine were discussed, and organizing local elections in Donbass based on legislation agreed with Donetsk and Lugansk representatives," the press service said.

    The sides also discussed the implementation of the Minsk peace agreements and agreed to continue cooperation in the so-called Normandy format (Ukraine, Russia, Germany, France).

    "It was agreed to continue active joint work in the framework of the so-called Normandy format, including convening a meeting of foreign ministers in the upcoming days," the Kremlin statement reads.
