US Ambassador to Russia said that no meetings between US President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin are scheduled.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) No meetings between US President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin are scheduled at this time, and future contacts largely depend on progress made in regard to disagreements between Washington and Moscow, US Ambassador to Russia John Tefft said Thursday.

"There is nothing scheduled at this point that I'm aware of and I think a lot of it depends on addressing the specific issues that I've tried to highlight, Ukraine and Syria," Tefft said in an interview with Russian news agencies.

"I think the point here is not to schedule meetings for the sake of meetings, but to try to push ahead and try to resolve these problems that separate us at this point," he added.
