DAVOS (Sputnik), Daria Chernyshova – Russia's relations with the European Union depend on the situation in Ukraine and the implementation of Minsk agreements, Sweden's former prime minister told Sputnik on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Saturday.
"The EU-Russia situation is very much dependent on the question of Ukraine and Minsk. That is the key thing, because that is where the sanctions are," Carl Bildt, who also served as Sweden's foreign minister, said stressing that the key sanctions against Russia are related to the Minsk deal implementation.
The United States, the European Union and their allies have imposed and extended a series of economic measures starting in 2014 targeting Russia's banking, defense and energy sectors. The West accuses Moscow of interfering with Ukraine's internal affairs, accusations Russia has routinely rejected.
