China supports Iran’s bid to become a full-fledged member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), a joint statement published by national media said on Saturday.

BEIJING (Sputnik) – Iran is among six observer states of the Eurasian political, economic and military alliance that includes Russia, China and four Central Asian republics.

China’s Xinhua news service cites the joint statement signed during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Iran, with Beijing expressing support for Tehran’s full membership in SCO.
