MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Ziolkowski had a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov in Moscow. The diplomats discussed cooperation between the two countries, as well as international issues.
"The talks were substantive. I clearly emphasized our readiness to conduct dialogue with the Russian side," Ziolkowski said as quoted on the Foreign Ministry's website.
He also assured his Russian counterpart that Warsaw was interested in intensifying the existing channels of communication with Moscow and stood ready to continue economic, social and cultural cooperation.
Relations between Poland and Russia deteriorated over the crisis in Ukraine’s southeastern regions in 2014. The West, including Poland, accused Russia of interfering in Ukraine’s internal conflict. Moscow has repeatedly denied the claims.
