"Yes, of course, we have said this before," Gatilov said, responding to a question whether Moscow considers it necessary to more actively deal with the Daesh in the North African country.
Moreover, Russia sees no problems with the adoption of a UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution supporting Libya’s new national unity government, proposed by the United Kingdom, Gatilov said.
“London proposed the adoption of a Security Council resolution immediately after the signing of the December 16 inter-Libyan agreement in support of these arrangements and due to the need to assist the Libyans in their implementation,” Gatilov told reporters.
The resolution would focus exclusively on this purpose, Gatilov said, citing London officials.
“We told them that we agree in principle with how they set out the content of the resolution and we see no particular problems with its adoption, but of course we will need to see the specific wording of the text,” the deputy foreign minister said.
The resolution will be distributed in the coming days among the UNSC members and it is not expected that there would be difficulties with its adoption, according to Gatilov.
Daesh is a jihadist militant organization outlawed in many countries including Russia.
