MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Monday, Trump, who is the current front runner in the Republican Party presidential nomination, called for a complete ban of all Muslims entering the United States until a counterterrorism plan is established.

The poll by YouGov research company revealed that some 65 percent of the Brits viewed Trump’s call for a Muslim ban as inappropriate for the United States. However, one in four British people approved the remarks, with 13 percent of those interviewed saying that they were "very" appropriate, according to the poll.

Rising Anger in UK Fuels Anti-Trump Sentiment
Anti-Muslim remarks of the presidential hopeful faced criticism from Republicans, Democrats and world leaders. In response to the presidential candidate's speech that parts of London were "so radicalized the police are afraid for their lives," London Mayor Boris Johnson replied that "the real risk of meeting Donald Trump" would be the only reason he would not visit some parts of New York.

Earlier on Wednesday, it was revealed that a digital petition to ban Trump from the United Kingdom for anti-Muslim remarks gained over 310,000 signatures.

According to the latest data from the YouGov poll conducted on November 23, Trump was chosen as the preferred nominee for presidency by 37 percent of self-identified Republican voters. However, the media reported that his recent call for the Muslim ban can lead to a serious loss of public and party support.
