Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reacted to a recent statement made by British Foreign Minister Philip Hammond regarding the way to put an end to the Syrian crisis.

Hammond claimed that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin can “bring this madness to an end immediately… by picking up the telephone to Mr Assad and telling him the game is over,” according to the Independent.

“If everything is going to happen the way our British colleagues claim it would, and Assad’s ousting will bring this madness to an end, where would Daesh go? Or what, someone will call them and tell them that the game is over? Question: who is going to call Daesh?” Zakharova wrote on her Facebook page.

The US and its allies continue to insist on ousting the Syrian President Bashar Assad and oppose all forms of aid to his government.

On September 30, Russia launched an airborne campaign against Daesh forces in Syria at the behest of President Assad.
