Commenting on the Turkish side's suggestion that the Russian citizens may have been involved in the purchase of Daesh oil, the Russian Foreign Minister said those claims may be "a result of guilty conscience".

Moreover, Lavrov noted that "it is strange that Turkey's statements about Russia's purchase of oil from Daesh came many days after information [became available] on the oil trade between Daesh and Turkey."

Speaking with journalists in Belgrad, Lavrov noted that he "met with Foreign Minister Cavusoglu on his urgent request, and did not hear anything new."

"The Minister reiterated the approach which had already been publicly voiced by President Erdogan. The Russian side reiterated its assessment, which we have held from the first day after our bomber was shot down, that this was a criminal action, contrary to all norms for such cases."

Kerry Looking for Angles in Ground War Against Daesh
Earlier in the day, Lavrov met with John Kerry on the sidelines of the OSCE ministerial meeting.

"We discussed the issue of combating Islamic State [Daesh in the Arab world, a group outlawed in Russia] of course, first and foremost, and John Kerry agreed with me that one of the urgent and long-overdue measures  [to ensure safety] is the sealing of the Turkish-Syrian border," Lavrov stated.

According to him, the US partners have an understanding that this step is needed.

"There is a comprehension that the Kurds in this issue, as well in the fight against the Islamic State, are allies," the minister added.
