Some countries started to change their stance concerning the future of Syrian President Bashar Assad, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Saturday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the spokesman, speaking of political settlement and holding elections is not very realistic while a part of the country is controlled by the Islamic State militants.

"They [countries] are abandoning this… pressured stance of ‘let Assad leave primarily, and then let’s think of what we should do.’ This stance is unrealistic," Peskov told the Rossiya 24 television channel.
