US State Secretary John Kerry offered his condolences for the loss of life of Russian pilot in the downing of a Su-24 combat jet by Turkey in Syria, according to the State Department.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US State Secretary John Kerry sent its condolences to Russia for the death of a Russian pilot in the downing of a Su-24 combat jet by Turkey in Syria, the State Department said in a release on Wednesday.

“The Secretary offered his condolences for the loss of life in yesterday’s incident with Turkey,” the release said after a phone conversation between Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
