TEHRAN (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Putin and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani began high-level talks in the Iranian capital shortly following the forum.
"The Gas Exporting Countries Forum… gave an opportunity for substantial meetings with the Iranian leadership. We held substantial talks with the Iranian president, with the participation of key ministers, agencies, representatives of the business community," Putin told a press conference after talks with Rouhani.
During the talks, the two leaders discussed the Syrian issue, anti-terrorism measures, and agreed to unite and coordinate their efforts on both issues.
Moscow and Tehran also agreed to boost bilateral trade, economic cooperation, to develop a number of joint energy projects, including those in the peaceful nuclear energy field.
