TEHRAN (Sputnik) — The Russian president is expected to hold talks with Iraqi President Hassan Rouhani and Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, as well as with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on the sidelines of the forum.

According to Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, Russian and Iranian leaders will exchange views on a range of issues, including trade and investment, nuclear energy, oil and gas, and military-technical cooperation.

The summit will bring together the presidents of Bolivia, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Nigeria, Russia and Venezuela, as well as the Algerian prime minister. Other member states will be represented on the level of representatives of energy ministries and other authorities.

The sides are expected to adopt a joint declaration following the summit, which will reflect the fundamental stance of member states on priority issues of international gas cooperation.

GECF is an international governmental organization of the world’s leading gas producers. The member countries together account for 67 percent of the world’s proven natural gas reserves.

The GECF comprises Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. Iraq, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman and Peru have the status of observer members.
