    Kerry Urges Syrian Opposition to Unite for Reconciliation Talks

    US State Secretary John Kerry emphasized the importance of the Syrian opposition coming together to ensure that they can participate actively and meaningfully in the negotiations the reconciliation in Syria, according to US State Department spokesman John Kirby.

    WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – US State Secretary John Kerry called on the Syrian opposition to unite in order to take part in the talks on the reconciliation in the country, US State Department spokesman John Kirby said Monday.

    "The Secretary emphasized the importance of the Syrian opposition coming together to ensure that they can participate actively and meaningfully in the negotiations," Kirby stated, following Kerry's telephone call with President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition Khaled Khoja.

    According to him, the sides discussed the importance of holding broad and inclusive meeting of the Syrian opposition on the threshold of negotiations under the United Nations auspices between the latter and the government.
