Putin Meets IMF Chief on G20 Summit Sidelines

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia supports a number of IMF member states in their desire to reform the organization.

ANTALYA (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, met on Sunday on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Turkey.

"We have been cooperating with the IMF in various capacities, and we are interested in the continuation of this work, we hope for the stability of our relations," Putin said at the opening of the bilateral meeting.

He added that Russia supports a number of IMF member states in their desire to reform the organization.

In turn, Lagarde stated that in terms of the probability of this reform, it was likely to happen "in the next two months," but if it did not, the process might take another few years.

"There are many other issues on the agenda, [Russia] is ready to negotiate any subject," the Russian leader said.
