RIYADH (Sputnik) — ASPA, gathering leaders from 22 Arab League and 12 South American countries, released its "Riyadh Declaration" after concluding a 2-day session, which also addressed the issues of the Israel-Palestine conflict and the turmoil in Yemen and Libya.
The Declaration also supported Syria's territorial integrity and condemned terrorism in any form.
"We confirm… the need to find a peaceful solution for the conflict in Syria based on the Geneva communique," the declaration stated.
The Syrian government has been fighting a number of opposition forces, as well as extremist groups, including ISIL and the Nusra Front, since 2011.
The Geneva II resolution was signed in January 2014 by representatives from the Syrian government and opposition forces. It stressed the need for a peaceful political process to resolve Syria's civil war.
