“On security, in recognition of our shared interests in countering terrorism, illegal migration, and organised crime, Home Office officials and their Egyptian counterparts will engage in a regular and strategic dialogue to foster greater collaboration in these areas, which are of vital importance to both our countries,” Hammond said, as quoted in the statement.
The memorandum was signed in the framework of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi’s visit to the United Kingdom for talks with the UK leadership.
On Wednesday, the UK government said there were concerns the Russian passenger plane that crashed in the Sinai Peninsula en route from Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg might have been downed by a terrorist bomb and suspended all flights to and from Sharm el-Sheikh airport, as well as ordered additional security measures.
