The two presidents are expected to lay out plans for development of trade, expanding economic ties and the expansion of cooperation in investment.

On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a video conference with Argentinian President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner.

The two presidents laid out plans for development of trade, expanding economic ties and the expansion of cooperation in investment.

Earlier on Wednesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the upcoming conference call. "There will be a video conference with Kirchner, president of Argentina, dedicated to the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Argentina. This is quite an important date, therefore the heads of state agreed to hold a video conference," Peskov told reporters.

Putin and Kirchner met previously in April in Moscow. The sides signed a number of cooperation deals and confirmed that the bilateral ties between Russia and Argentina were strengthening.

Argentinian President Cristina Kirchner praised the speech that her Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, delivered at the UN General Assembly last month, including his call for a united effort to fight against Middle East terrorism.

"I want to congratulate you on your excellent speech at the UN. That address was flawless, it probably didn’t follow the rules other counties are used to, when their deeds don’t match their words," Kirchner said during a video conference with Putin.

The Argentinian leader expressed her approval of President Putin’s statement where he "backed the fight against terrorism" in Syria and Iraq.

At the 70th session of the UNGA in New York, Vladimir Putin urged the international community to create a broad international anti-terrorism coalition with Islamic countries.

Since September 30, Russia has been conducting airstrikes against Islamic State positions in Syria at President Bashar Assad’s request, while having provided military and technical assistance to Damascus beforehand.
