WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States will continue to develop relations with Syrian moderate opposition that will contribute to achieving a political transition in the country, US President Barack Obama stated on Friday.

“Our goal, even as we double down on going after ISIL, is to continue to cultivate relations with a moderate opposition that can serve as a transition to a new government inside of Syria," Obama said.

Iran, Russia, Gulf States Should Contribute to Political Transition in Syria

Iran, Russia, Gulf states as well as other interested parties should play a role in solving the ongoing conflict in Syria and reaching a political transition in the country, US President Barack Obama stated on Friday.

“We continue to have a process of getting the Iranians, the Russians, the Turks, the Gulf countries and all the other interested parties to sit down and recognize we’ve got to have a political transition if we want to end the humanitarian crisis and save the structure of a unified Syrian state, Obama said.
