The Russian Defense Ministry said Tuesday it had sent proposals on the text of a draft agreement concerning flight safety during combat missions over Syria to the Pentagon.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the statement, the draft document was sent on Tuesday to the US through military-diplomatic channels.

"Following agreements reached during October 10 video-conference call, the Russian Defense Ministry has prepared proposals on the text of a possible Russia-US agreement on flight safety during operations in the Syrian airspace," the ministry said in a statement.

The Russian experts are ready to hold another videoconference on Wednesday, the statement said.

The US-led international coalition has been conducting airstrikes against Islamic State militants in Syria since 2014.

Russian Aerospace Forces commenced precision airstrikes against ISIL targets in Syria on September 30, following a request from Syrian President Bashar Assad.
