LONDON (Sputnik) – British Prime Minister David Cameron noted progress reached during the Normandy format talks on Ukrainian reconciliation.
Earlier in the day, Cameron met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a working dinner at Chequers, his countryside retreat.
"The Prime Minister welcomed the progress that [German] Chancellor [Angela] Merkel and [French] President [Francois] Hollande had secured through the Normandy format," a Downing Street spokesperson said following the meeting.
On October 2, Merkel, Hollande, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko held five-hour talks focused on Ukrainian crisis
The leaders of the so-called 'Normandy Quartet' countries managed to agree on, in particular, the procedure of the withdrawal of heavy weaponry in eastern Ukraine.
In February, the 'Normandy Four' leaders worked out a set of agreements in Minsk to ensure peace in Ukraine, later signed by the Kiev forces and the militias of the eastern Ukrainian Donbass region.
