After the reports emerged, another high-ranking EU official said that the European Union had no plans on implementing any new sanctions against Russia over its military operation in Syria.
"Nothing is known in the Kremlin about this. Honestly speaking, I’ve not seen any sort of statements, but on the contrary, there have been statements that the topic of sanctions in regard to the Syrian events is not being discussed," Peskov told journalists.
Peskov added that "these sources are not confirmed, most likely, the claim refers to a huge number of sources, which overflow the information space and should be treated with caution," Peskov said.
Russia’s Sukhoi Su-25, Su-24M and Su-34 attack aircraft, with the support of Su-30 jets, commenced precision airstrikes against ISIL targets in Syria on September 30, following a request from Syrian President Bashar Assad.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, airstrikes had considerably damaged the Islamic State's command and logistics networks, as well as infrastructure used to equip suicide bombers.
