UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) – The Cypriot leader characterized his meeting with the Russian diplomat on the sidelines of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly as "particularly productive," according to local media following Lavrov’s meeting with Anastasiades on Sunday.
He added that Lavrov accepted an invitation to visit Cyprus in the near future on the occasion of the 55th year of the advent of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"I have an invitation and yesterday I told [Anastasiades] that of course I will avail myself of it," Lavrov told RIA Novosti.
The two sides met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, where Russia had confirmed its commitment to a "comprehensive, viable and just" solution to a settlement of the Cypriot dispute.
