Russia Can Play Positive Role in Middle East Crisis Resolution – Abbas
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the foreign minister, Palestinian officers visit Russia annually to be trained in various spheres and the Palestinian government is quite satisfied with the quality of military training.

“We are not interested in the purchase of weapons because we are eager to achieve demilitarization in the Palestinian state. However, we are cooperating [with Russia] in the sphere of military training – and this is what we want from the Russian side. We have been cooperating with Russia on the issue of training of the qualified personnel for a long time already,” Maliki told RIA Novosti.

On a recent visit to Moscow, Abbas held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Russian-Palestinian relations and the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
