"Our cooperation with Syria is carried out on a bilateral basis, therefore, if the Americans really are interested in a more effective fight against ISIL, then, perhaps, we can expect them to adequately assess Russia's actions," Gatilov told RIA Novosti.
The deputy minister made his remarks commenting on claims that the United States could pressure Russia if Moscow continued supporting Syrian President Bashar Assad.
Moscow has been urging the US-led coalition, which is bombing IS positions in Syria without permission from Damascus, to join forces with the Syrian government to fight the jihadists. Washington has so far been reluctant to consider such an option, having pledged air support to anti-Assad rebels on the ground.
Moscow has also served as a venue for a series of intra-Syrian talks, hosting two rounds of reconciliation meetings between various opposition groups and government officials earlier this year.
"The resolution will be voted on in the upcoming days. It has practically been agreed, it takes into account all of our comments and suggestions. The vote could take place within the next two days," Gatilov told reporters, adding that Russia would support the document.
Russia’s UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said earlier this month that the UN Security Council was debating a draft resolution to tackle the European Union’s migration crisis that could authorize action against human traffickers in the Mediterranean. Russia holds the UN council presidency in September.
The International Organization for Migration has put the number of migrants who have come ashore in Europe since the beginning of 2015 at 473,887, while thousands have died attempting the perilous journey.
