Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will address the UN General Assembly on September 27, Russia's UN envoy Vitaly Churkin said Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia's envoy to the UN added that the Russian delegation to the United Nations would be headed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"A high-level general debate will begin on September 28, which will be of particular importance for the international community. The Russian delegation will be headed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Prior to that, on September 25-27, a UN development summit will be held in New York. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will address it on September 27," Churkin said during a Moscow-New York video conference organized by Rossiya Segodnya news agency.

Putin's UN Speech to Reaffirm Support for Organization's Key Security Role
Putin's speech at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in New York is scheduled for the morning of September 28, Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters earlier in September.

He added that Putin's speech would address key aspects on the international agenda, including issues relating to joint efforts to counter global terrorism.
