TOKYO (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, local media reported that the Japanese Foreign Ministry was putting the finishing touches to the plans for Fumio Kishida's trip to Moscow, scheduled for early next week.

"Firstly, as regards my visit to Russia, the information presented in the media is not true. About my visit to Russia: our position, that we will continue to look into this issue, taking into account all the possible aspects, has not changed," Kishida said at a press conference.

Earlier, the Government of Japan decided to postpone Kishida's visit to Moscow, reportedly scheduled for late August. No new dates for the visit have been confirmed.
