PARIS (Sputnik) — Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces fighting various opposition factions and militant groups, including ISIL.
“To eradicate these terrorists [ISIL], we must give the Syrians a political perspective,” Fabius told Le Parisien newspaper.
Fabius added that one of his priorities was the acceleration of intra-Syrian talks to install a transitional government in Damascus composed of both government representatives and the moderate opposition.
He also said that France should intensify its intelligence efforts allowing te country to effectively use military forces against ISIL militants, if necessary.
