WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The State Department has been working through more than 55,000 emails taken from Clinton’s private email server, which she used to conduct business during her term as Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013.
"We have upgraded a number of these emails,” Toner said. “I think it is somewhere around 150…that have been subsequently upgraded classified.”
Clinton’s communications were subpoenaed under a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request and are gradually being released to the public.
The State Department has stated that none of the information contained in Clinton’s emails were classified at the time they were sent, but the issue is under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Clinton, the Democratic front-runner in the 2016 presidential race, maintains that she did not transfer classified information on her private email server.
By Monday night’s 7,000 page email dump, the State Department will have met the FOIA goals of releasing more than 25 percent of the total number of pages on Clinton’s server.
