US President Barack Obama invited Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to visit the White House in October, a spokesman said in a statement on Sunday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier this week, US National Security Advisor Susan Rice traveled to Pakistan as part of her Asian tour to meet with country's senior officials to hold talks on various global pressing issues, including domestic security and terrorism threat, as well as the future of Pakistan-US relations.

"Ambassador Rice extended an invitation to Prime Minister Sharif on behalf of President Obama to visit the White House on October 22, 2015, to further strengthen the US-Pakistani relationship," White House National Security Council spokesperson Ned Price said in a statement

During the talks in Islamabad, the sides also discussed possibilities of bilateral cooperation in order to tackle shared priorities.
