Jordanian media reported last week that King Abdullah II also planned to attend the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2015 held on August 25-30 outside Moscow.

Russia and Jordan signed an intergovernmental agreement in March this year laying a legal foundation for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Jordan.

The Russian state-run Rosatom corporation is expected to build two 1,000-megawatt nuclear power units in the country’s north by 2022.

Jordan’s ultimate goal to provide nearly a third of its electricity generated from nuclear power by 2030 came about after the 2007 discovery of large uranium deposits.
