The position of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Yemeni conflict will not change despite the capture of the UAE embassy in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, the UAE Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

DUBAI (Sputnik) – Earlier, the UAE Embassy in Sanaa was taken over by the members of the Houthi opposition political faction.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the occupation of the embassy and the evacuation of embassy staff will not deter the UAE's support for the restoration of stability to sisterly Yemen,” the press release said on Monday.

Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have already condemned the occupation of the embassy.

Yemen has been engulfed in a military conflict between Houthis, the country’s main opposition faction, and government forces.

In late March, a Saudi-led coalition of Arab states began airstrikes against Houthis in Yemen at the request of Yemeni President-in-exile Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.
