Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday that Ukraine would eventually abandon the "shameful" practices of "external state management," including appointments of foreigner to key posts in the federal government and the regions.

YALTA (Sputnik) — In May, former Georgia President Mikheil Saakashvili, wanted in his homeland for embezzlement and abuse of power, was appointed governor of Ukraine's Odesa Region.

"I think these practices are humiliating for the Ukrainian people. They will undoubtedly meet proper judgment by the Ukrainian people," Putin said at a meeting with representatives of Crimea’s national associations.

Putin expressed confidence that Ukraine would overcome the current difficulties and continue positive development.

"I am certain that despite all current difficulties, the situation in Ukraine will improve, and Ukraine will continue developing, developing positively."
