On September 6, Poland will hold a referendum on three issues: the introduction of single-seat constituencies in elections for the lower house of parliament (the Sejm), the financing of political parties from the state budget, and the introduction of a general principle to resolve disputes over tax law.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The referendum to be held on September 6 in Poland is not worth the money that is going to be spent on it, a Polish member of the European Parliament told Sputnik on Friday.

"There is no use in losing hundreds of thousands of zlotys [1 Polish Zloty equals $0.27] on this referendum," Janusz Korwin-Mikke, the leader of the right-wing Coalition for the Restoration of Freedom and Hope to the Republic (KORWiN) party, said.

Korwin-Mikke underlined that the third question concerning tax is already irrelevant as it was resolved shortly after the referendum was announced.

"There is nothing to decide," Korwin-Mikke said, adding that his party intends to boycott the referendum because the questions being put before the Polish electorate have been formulated incorrectly.

The referendum was ordered by former President Bronislaw Komorowski after the May presidential elections, which he lost to current President Andrzej Duda.

"The problem is that the Polish President [Bronislaw] Komorowski just invented this referendum at the last moment, when he learnt about the result of the first round of the elections, because he thought it would bring him more votes," Janusz Korwin-Mikke said.

On October 25, Polish voters will take to the polling booths to elect members to the Senate and the Sejm.
