Indian Prime Minister Modi to Visit Russia in Late November, Early December
06:12 GMT 14.08.2015 (Updated: 06:57 GMT 14.08.2015) Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Russia in late November or early December for a Russian-Indian summit, a diplomatic source said Friday.
NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — "The visits of India's foreign minister and defense minister are scheduled for October. They will participate in the work of intergovernmental commissions to prepare for the Russian-Indian summit," the source told RIA Novosti.
The source added that Modi's visit "is currently planned for late November, early December."
India is Russia’s largest military-technical partner, with an estimated $4.78 billion worth of weapons and military equipment, including nuclear submarines, jet fighters and battle tanks, purchased in 2013, according to Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation.
The countries are also collaborating on construction of nuclear power plants in India.
Putin and Modi discussed cooperation in areas such as nuclear energy and the military-technical sphere last month on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS summits in Russia. The two leaders also discussed the expansion of strategic partnership and trade.
