CAIRO (Sputnik) – Iran and the European Union are determined to begin high-level talks to discuss various issues, including energy, human rights issues, and other topics, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Zarif said Tuesday.

“There are several topics related to the future of relations between Iran and Europe, including human rights, transportation, environment, energy, and the fight against drugs and other cooperation in various fields between Iran and the European Union,” Zarif said.

On July 14, Iran and P5+1 countries, comprising the United States, Russia, China, France, the United Kingdom and Germany, reached a comprehensive deal ensuring the safe development of Tehran’s nuclear program and lifting the sanctions imposed against the Islamic Republic.

The conclusion of the deal marked the start of improvement of the relations between the European Union and Iran.

Earlier this month, a high-ranking EU official said that the 28-nation bloc was conducting preparatory work to open a representative office in Iran after the deal was reached.

According to the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, Tehran and the European Union have already started talks on exports of Iranian gas to Europe.
