MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias held a phone conversation, initiated by the Greek side, earlier in the day, according to the ministry.

During the talk, Kotzias informed of the status of negotiations between Greece and its creditors.

“S.V. Lavrov expressed understanding for [Greek Prime Minister Alexis] Tsipras’ government’s actions, and hope that Brussels will not resort to implementing negative scenarios and that Greece will be able to overcome the current problems,” the ministry said in a statement.
