WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In the end of May, Kerry broke his hip during a cycling accident near the French town of Scionzier. Then-State Department spokesperson Marie Harf stated a couple of days after that the secretary was expected to be present at the negotiations despite his injury.
“Kerry will travel to Vienna, Austria, on June 26 to participate in the ongoing EU-coordinated P5+1 nuclear negotiations with Iran,” the release read on Wednesday.
Iran and the six international negotiators, comprising the United States, China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and Germany, have to reach a deal, securing the peaceful nature of Tehran's nuclear program in exchange for easing of sanctions before the June 30 deadline.
In April, the P5+1 and Iran reached a political framework deal on the issue.
