G7 Urges to Continue Trilateral Talks Between EU, Ukraine, Russia
MOSCOW (Sputnik) The discussion of global issues within the G7 Summit without Russia's participation is hardly effective, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.

"Naturally, the discussion of global issues without Russia's participation can hardly be effective or lead to any type of action," Peskov said in regard to the reinstatement of Russia as a participant in the G7 making it the G8.

Germany took over the G7 presidency in June 2014, and will host an annual meeting of the member states in June 2015.

The G7 comprises leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Russia was suspended from being a part of the G8 group last year amid tensions over Crimea. Last March, Russia and Crimea reunified following a referendum, where 96 percent of the voters backed reunification.
