MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Norway should keep good ties with Russia despite the tense political situation, the country's foreign minister wrote in his article in the VG newspaper Friday.

The minister emphasized the importance of preserving cooperation with Russia in areas such as nuclear safety, management of fish resources and environmental protection.

Unfortunately, Norway is not ready to return to “normal” relations with its northern neighbor, the Norwegian foreign minister said, accusing Moscow of breaching international law.

“Norway wants a good and close relationship with Russia, built on mutual benefit and respect for fundamental international rules," the minister's article in the VG newspaper reads.

"The time has not yet come to return to a ‘normal’ bilateral relationship with Russia,” he concluded.
