“Today, the president will meet with Chinese foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is presently in Moscow, to discuss, first of all, the preparations for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s May visit for full-fledged talks in Moscow,” Peskov said.
Xi is expected to attend the May 9 Victory Day Parade in Moscow.
Russia has invited a number of world leaders to attend the Victory Parade in Moscow in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany and the end of World War II. At least 25 states had agreed to attend the celebration, according to Kremlin Chief of Staff Sergei Ivanov.
On Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia and China are expected to hold comprehensive talks on the sidelines of the Victory Day celebrations. Lavrov added that Russia's relations with China have reached an unprecedentedly good level, and described it as multifaceted, comprehensive and strategic.
The foreign minister also said that Xi Jinping had invited President Putin to visit China in early September when the country will celebrate Victory over Japan Day.
