"An official visit of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to China is planned for the second half of the year," the ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, the visit will include the meeting of Medvedev with his Chinese counterpart, which will be preceded by the meeting of deputy prime ministers.
The deputy prime minister meetings are expected to focus on energy, investment and humanitarian cooperation between Russia and China.
Several bilateral consultations on strategic security are also set to take place, as well as discussions on the issues concerning the cooperation in the areas of defense and law.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said Moscow and Beijing consider further cooperation in various formats as important for both countries and aim to increase the efficiency of joint efforts in tackling both global and regional challenges.
Russia and China cooperate through a number of organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and BRICS, among others.
