The P5+1 countries have been negotiating with Iran to halt its uranium enrichment program, fearing Tehran is developing nuclear weapons under the guise of a civilian energy program.

LAUSANNE (Sputnik) — The Iran nuclear deal can be achieved if all negotiating sides show goodwill, the German Foreign Ministry said in a statement Wednesday.

"Progress is visible. Nothing is agreed but if there is goodwill on all sides, an agreement is possible," the statement said.

The statement added that talks were gridlocked on "some important questions last night."

Meanwhile Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that the P5+1 group and Tehran would make a joint statement on a possible framework agreement later on Wednesday.

Tuesday was the deadline for the negotiators to hammer out an agreement but the talks continued into the night and resumed on Wednesday.
