LAUSANNE (Sputnik) — Iran and the P5+1 aim to reach a political agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program by end of March, Iran's foreign minister told Sputnik on Thursday.

"We are trying to be able to resolve all the issues within the next few days and then get down to writing the exact details," Mohammad Javad Zarif said.

Zarif noted that the nuclear talks have advanced in the "right direction," adding, however, that the sides still need to reach an agreement on all the aspects of the deal.

Iran and P5+1 countries, comprising Russia, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany, have been trying to reach an agreement guaranteeing a peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program for more than a year.

On March 21, Zarif said the negotiating parties had resolved a number of major issues that had obstructed a deal on Iran's nuclear program, with Tehran expressing willingness to continue the talks.

The new round of talks on the Iranian nuclear program between Tehran and the P5+1 group started on Thursday in Lausanne, Switzerland. The talks are to last until March 29.

The final deal is expected to be reached by July 2015.
