"The motorized infantry unit deployed in the Shalinsky region of the Chechen Republic began a tactical field exercise. The drills are being held at the Gvardeets military range. They involve more than 200 troops and 300 weapons and military equipment units," the district said.
During the maneuvers motorized infantry, tank, artillery and reconnaissance crews will complete tasks on blocking and destroying a simulated enemy in flat terrain and forested areas in daytime and nighttime.
"Special focus will be on fortification of the support point, construction of engineering barriers, and organization of fire systems and illumination support for military operations against simulated enemies. During the target practicing motorized infantry troops in cooperation with tank and artillery crews will destroy about 300 targets which will simulate enemy aviation, armored vehicles and troops," the statement read.
Training minefields, barbed-wire entanglement and other barriers will be set for the exercises at the range.
