WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — New legislation to provide greater economic, military and other support to Ukraine will likely be introduced following next week’s US congressional recess, ranking Democrat on the US House Foreign Affairs Committee Eliot Engel told Sputnik on Wednesday.
“We’re working on legislation right now, it still has to be finalized,” Engel said following a hearing on the United States relationship to Ukraine. “It’s going to have some areas of support for Ukraine and we are looking to support Ukraine in a palpable way.”
Engel said he was not prepared to discuss the details of the pending legislation, but said it would include “some things that are economic, some things that are military, and a few other areas.”
The legislation will be introduced soon after the Congress gets back from recess the week of March 16.
The US House and Senate have been active in enacting legislation to provide support to Ukraine including lethal military aid.
